ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½

Dear PSD Community,

For a fourth straight year, Nikhil Ganta has been named the champion of the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Spelling Bee. Ganta, now a sixth-grade student at Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School, won the 2026 title after correctly spelling ¡°panacea¡± during the competition held at the Johannsen Support Services Center Jan. 23.  

All PSD non-charter school buildings will operate on a 2-hour delay Monday, Jan. 26, due to forecasted cold temperatures. Remote learning will not take place. ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ will dismiss at the regular time unless families are notified otherwise. Lunch service will continue as scheduled.

Student achievement is always a focus for the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ community, and that dedication to success is again evident in the class of 2025¡¯s record high 89% graduation rate; this marks the second consecutive year of record high graduate rates.

Across the country¡ªand across the political spectrum¡ªpublic education is the subject of strong opinions and big questions. What should students be learning, or not learning, in school? Are districts preparing young people for a world that doesn¡¯t exist anymore? Are expectations for students too high or too low¡ªand unmet? Is the only way to exercise school choice to opt out of the public school system entirely?
